Unrealised Project: Paul Pfeiffer, 2003

Project Overview
In the early 2000s Paul Pfeiffer was coming to prominence as a video artist who presented video in a sculptural manner. A lot of his imagery was based on sports such as basketball. I collected his work and invited him to come to Australia to do a project. The Rugby World Cup was taking place when he visited and he saw the semi-finals between Australia and New Zealand, which Australia surprisingly won. He also saw the finals where Australia lost to England. Prior to the World Cup finals we went to Melbourne where we received permission to photograph and film in the stadium. We recruited league players from the newly formed Melbourne Storm who went through various movements, such as scrums, which Pfeiffer filmed. He requested that they wear all white uniforms. He spent maybe a couple of weeks in Australia but nothing became of the project. It ‘fizzled out’.
